In 1978, John and Lyn Williamson launched a new company Impact Supplies in Brisbane to provide a viable alternative to new equipment.
John and Lyn realised that many companies were finding new drilling and mining equipment too expensive and out of their reach.
John’s successful sales career with Ingersoll-Rand and trade experience gave him the skills and confidence to branch out on his own.
Together with Lyn’s administrative expertise, planning and support, they developed Impact Supplies into a thriving, family run business sourcing good quality used diesel and electric air compressors, as well as drilling and mining equipment.
The company originally started at Seventeen Mile Rocks in Brisbane’s western suburbs (pictured above). In those days, the premises adjoined thick bushland complete with bike tracks; a favourite hangout for trail bike riders. Over time, the bike riders moved on to make way for the eco-friendly housing development Eden Brooke.
Today, you’ll find Impact Supplies in the prosperous industrial suburb of Sumner Park in Brisbane, not far from its origins at Seventeen Mile Rocks. With over two acres housing the modern workshop, offices and equipment yard, the company is well located with easy access to the Ipswich Motorway and Centenary Highway.
After 38 years, John is still very much enjoying running the business and with son Brett, General Manager of co-business Winch Hire Australia, there is a long future ahead.
“Over the past 38 years, we have diversified and strengthened to meet the needs of a changing industrial environment. Our customers can feel confident about establishing a long-term relationship with us because we consistently deliver high-quality products and aftermarket service. We offer our customers first class products and solutions designed to increase productivity.”
